Mechquest is a free online browser-based single-player role playing game developed by Artix Entertainment. It was launched on 1st October( in a testing stage referred to by the staff as the "Gamma" stage. This will be the alpha and beta, together making game is, according to Artix, "Heavily inspired by the art from of every mecha & giant robot series every created (and we are throwing in magic and laser swords just because) we will be putting a true "anything goes" build and battle "lunchbreak sized" game." This game was first announced in the Dragonfable design notes.

Like AdventureQuest's Guardians or DragonFable's Dragon Lords it will have the possibility to upgrade an account. The upgrade is called Star Captain. This will grant access to several new mech chassis, as well as the ability to buy a star cruiser. Also, if a player is a Guardian in AdventureQuest, or has a Dragon Amulet on DragonFable, they can access two more powerful chassis. These are available after verifying their account. These will be relative to the accounts in question. If, for instance, a player were to have only one upgraded account; they would only have access to one new chassis. But if the player in question were to have upgraded accounts in AdventureQuest and Dragonfable, said player would have access to both. Maxwell, animator for AdventureQuest, has been quoted to say, "Just to clear anything up, MechQuest is the renamed form of Assault Mecha."

Artix Entertainment stated in the FAQ's in response to "When does MechQuest take place?" Answer 1.) No body is really sure.... it is a mystery.

Answer 5.) The staff is completely insane and this will probably reveal itself in some clever and ironic way during the story of the game. (But it kills me not knowing... why.... why..... *cries*)"

It was revealed in one of the other Artix Entertainment games, DragonFable, that because of a crashing battleship, 2700 years before DragonFable, 2295 years after MechQuest, the reality had to be reset. It was also revealed that Warlic and Cysero might know of this.

Before the game was released they have announced that Mechquest will take place 5000 years before Battleon (AdventureQuest's main town) was built on June.20.3007. This contradicts canon, however, as Artix has used meta-humor before, and it is a minor detail, it is likely that the "5000 before" plot is correct.

At the beginning of the game, players will find themselves on a spaceship heading for Soluna City. Among the crew are HAL (Haircut and Lobotomy), and Tek, the owner of a shop in Soluna City. Also, "Kingadent Slugwrath", the ruler of the Loreon, gives a message to his loyal citizens, which can be seen at the big screen on ship. Finally, players can have the ship stopped in order to fight alien robots.

How ever this does not mean that this is just another RPG built by Artix Entertainment to raise funds for their games. It was promised that the game will be different from the previous RPGs( Adventure Quest and Dragonfable) that the game will be featuring a lot more for free players who do not upgrade their accounts. So unlike AdventureQuest or DragonFable, this will be the first game for free players to have a huge percentage of access to the game.

Currently in the shop of this game, if you verify the guardian/amulet accounts from the previous RPGs to your mechquest account, you will gain access to a special shop for the strongest weapons in the game (so far). Current update: new weapon in the special shop: the mysterious weapon that cost 5000 credits and is rumored to be the strongest weapon in stores at the moment.
